Pet Por­trait Artist Penny Richard­son lives in the vil­lage of Exton between the towns of Oakham in Rut­land and Stam­ford in Lin­colnshire.
Penny has been paint­ing pet por­traits pro­fes­sion­ally since leav­ing Lough­bor­ough Art Col­lege in 1984.
Penny was born in Har­ro­gate in York­shire and started her career as a Leices­ter­shire Artist at North­field Farm, Cold Over­ton, near Melton Mowbray.

Penny is a descen­dant of the Player fam­ily from Not­ting­hamshire and Der­byshire. She spe­cial­izes in dog, cat and horse por­traits and peo­ple por­trai­ture, although she is also an accom­plished land­scape and flo­ral painter, work­ing in a vari­ety of medi­ums such as Gouache, Pas­tel and Oils. All these medi­ums enable fine detail and a rich use of colour giv­ing a tremen­dous amount of realism.

If you would like a pet por­trait paint­ing and require pho­tographs and live in our local­ity we will take pho­tographs free of charge, pro­vid­ing you bring your pet to us. We are between the Mar­ket Towns of Stam­ford in Lin­colnshire & Oakham in Rut­land in Leices­ter­shire, just 1 mile from Rut­land Water.

Alter­na­tively, if you live out­side our local­ity, you can email your favourite pet photo’s to us. When your pet por­trait is com­pleted, we can scan and send a proof via email for your approval. If alter­ations are nec­es­sary we will make the adjust­ments and send fur­ther proofs until we get the por­trait as you like it.

    Thank you so much for your com­ments, I hope all goes well for your GCSE’s.
    My eldest son took GCSE Art and he attained an A* and I attained an A at A level in Art.
    I was born in Har­ro­gate, my mother and her fam­ily came from Cay­ton Hall, South Stain­ley, North York­shire.
    My great grand par­ents had a house look­ing on to the Stray, on Shan­non Avenue. All this side of my fam­ily were gifted in art. My grand­par­ents painted mainly land­scapes and still life stud­ies in oils. My mother went to the Har­ro­gate School of Art, I have many of her orig­i­nal sketches and paint­ings done whilst there. She excelled in fig­ure draw­ings and paint­ings from World War 2.
